Furloughing Social Security Administration Employees

Yesterday, I blogged about (as I see it) the impending human resource disaster that SSA will soon find itself in. Today, I came across an article that discusses the previously-mentioned possibility of a furlough for social security field office workers.

Thankfully, 42 democrat and 12 republican senators have sent a letter to the senate leadership asking that SSA be given adequate funding. Here's an excerpt.

"A furlough of this scope and magnitude will create a significant hardship on the elderly and disabled persons who depend heavily on field office staff resources -- particularly those in rural areas who must travel long distances to access services,"
